Style Icon: Frida Kahlo

I've always had a thing for Frida Kahlo's vibrant, dreamy, somewhat disturbing artwork. And her style was just as memorable. Did you know she graced the cover of Vogue in her day? She was such a beautiful person. I think my favorite part of her style was the way she wore flowers in her hair like a crown... I'd like to bring that back.

Tea Time

I have a new little favorite place to add to my list:
Miro Tea in Ballard.
I had an iced London Fog (basically a tea latte) there yesterday, and it made me feel like I could dance among the stars.
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it was really good!

Ring-a-ding-ding

I'm going through a ring phase right now.

I'll take this one,
this one,
and that one.

Thank you very much.

Can I get in that sweater with you?

I have an unshakable lust for Robert Pattinson, aka Edward from the Twilight phenoma-crazy.

Still, I'm quite the sucker for any Twilight parody... Thus last Saturday's SNL, with host Taylor Swift, made me quite happy.

Watch the trailer for Firelight here.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Awarded

Goodness gracious! I was just nominated by my dear friend Krysta for the above award!

Thank you, little Krysta....... Krysta and I met our freshman year of college. We lived on the same floor, and I remember, among many things, watching A Walk to Remember with her; so corny and good. Then we were in small group together for three years; so now I count her as a soul sister in my life.

Now here are the “rules”:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
  2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
  3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
  4. Name seven things about yourself that people may not know.
  5. Nominate seven "Kreativ Bloggers."
  6. Post links to the seven blogs nominated.
  7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they’ve been nominated.

Seven things you may not know about me:

ONE- When I was in 1st grade, I had a crush on Bugs Bunny. TWO- I used to be deathly afraid of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland... until I was, like, 12. THREE- I never touch raw meat. FOUR- I still wear a silver dolphin-shaped ring that my first boyfriend gave me. FIVE- I've never dyed my hair. SIX- I've been skinny dipping, twice. SEVEN- I love Taco Bell.

Cha cha cha

Hello, all you beautiful people out there.
This nasty Seattle weather makes me want to stay indoors all weekend. I'm not even going out tonight, can you believe that? All I can think of are big blankets, hot tea, and comfortable sweatpants...

Of note:
I can't wait to go here!
This site is currently all the rage.
Paul Rudd interviews Pee Wee!
I'll probably need to read this.
Believe it or not, this place has FREE happy hour food!

Well, I hope you have a happy weekend, whatever you'll be doing (oh, do let me know!)
